LAKE OSWEGO – The Lake Oswego School District is completing energy-efficient lighting improvement projects using federal funds awarded to the district by the Oregon Department of Energy. The district received $215,371 funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act awarded through the State Energy Program (SEP). These funds are designated for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in public buildings. The U.S. Department of Energy administers the funds, approves the projects and reviews the state’s progress.

The Lake Oswego School District is using these funds for lighting upgrades at the following schools and facilities:

  • Bryant Elementary

  • Forest Hills Elementary

  • Hallinan Elementary

  • Lake Grove Elementary

  • Oak Creek Elementary

  • Palisades Elementary

  • River Grove Elementary

  • Uplands Elementary

  • Westridge Elementary

  • Waluga Junior High

  • Lake Oswego Junior High

  • Facility Operations

  • Administration Building

Once these projects are completed, it is expected that district electrical costs will be reduced by approximately $15,000 per year. PC Electric, Inc. and Oregon Electric Group are the local contractors selected for the projects.

“We are pleased to make this award to the Lake Oswego School District ,” said Shellí Honeywell, manager of the Oregon Department of Energy ARRA team. “Not only will students and staff enjoy a learning environment with better lighting, but the funds will put local contractors to work.”

The Oregon Department of Energy received more than 1,100 letters of interest, representing a request of over $2 billion in Recovery Act funding.
