Food Services Assistants

 

 

Salary: $10.50/hour

Typical Duties:

  • Prepare food for cooking or serving.

  • Prepare meats, cheeses, sandwich ingredients, relishes, condiments.

  • Make sandwiches, salads, dressings.

  • Prepare single-portion servings of items like cake, Jello, bread.

  • Set up serving lines or carts.

  • Serve and assist in serving food to students, faculty in a cafeteria or food-cart environment.

  • Clean utensils, dishes, pots, pans, trays, serving carts or tables, kitchen equipment and appliances.

  • Store and retrieve food as needed.

  • Maintain necessary records.

  • Sell meal tickets.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally; up to 50 lbs. frequently.  Able to reach above shoulder, bend or twist frequently; crouch or kneel occasionally.  Able to use arms, wrists and hands in repetitive motion on a continuous basis.

Training and Experience:

Ability to understand oral and written instructions and use math skills to work with recipes, portion counts, and money.  Three to six months closely related experience or equivalent food service education preferred.  Well-developed communication skills and customer relation skills are required.  Have, or ability to obtain, a Clackamas County Food Handler’s Card.  First Aid Certification and Bloodborne Pathogens training recommended.

Special Requirements:

Substitutes selected for this position must complete a pre-employment record check and be approved by the State Department of Education after having a Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Verification made.  Substitutes will pay $10-$20 for a set of fingerprints and $62 for the verification check.
