Extended Day Provider

 

School TBD

3:00-6:00 p.m.

 

3 hrs./day;190 days/yr.

Salary: $12.37/hr. to start (DOE)

Start: September 1, 2011

Job Purpose:

To plan, organize, and supervise activities designed to meet the physical, emotional and intellectual needs, and to assure the care and safety of children enrolled in the Extended Day Program.

Typical Duties:

  • Determine supplies and equipment required for the program, and oversee correct use of such items.

  • Maintain and leave activity areas in neat, clean condition.

  • Inform Extended Day Program Director of unusual problems, or when parent-teacher conferences are warranted.

  • Assist in program evaluation and development to improve quality and implement new ideas.

  • Follow the assigned daily schedule.

  • Deliver the assigned daily program of instruction and activities.

  • Assist with the preparation, organization, and maintenance of teaching materials, classroom supplies, and learning games.

  • Operate educational media or computer equipment used for the instruction of students.

  • Monitor movement of students from one instructional area to another.

  • Provide student safety, self-care, health care, medical protocols, hygiene care, and mobility assistance services, which may include lifting, feeding, and toileting/diapering.

  • Maintain orderly and accurate records, reports, rosters, and attendance records for assigned site.

  • Maintain good rapport with students and parents/guardians.

  • Maintain adequate supply of all program information and forms for parents/guardians.

  • Collect and accurately record all fee payments from parents/guardians.

  • Deposit fee payments as directed by the Director of Extended Day Program.

  • File all required reports in a timely manner with the Extended Day Program.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Training and Experience Required:

Two years of training in education, early childhood development, physical education, or recreation.  Two years experience teaching in preschool or pre-kindergarten classes preferred. At least one year’s experience in a supervisory capacity with children in a group setting such as classroom, day care, recreation, latch key.  Bloodborne Pathogens training and First Aid Card are required and can be obtained after selection.

Special Requirements:

The person employed for this position must be able to verify identity and employment authorization. The candidate selected for this position must complete a pre-employment record check and be approved by the State Department of Education after having a Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Verification made.  The selected candidate will pay $10-$20 for a set of fingerprints and $62.00 for the verification check.
